Jacqueline Dawson, a native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, received undergraduate degrees in music and music education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and holds a masters degree in conducting from the University of Manitoba. She has attended the Conductor’s Art Symposium at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, The Art of Wind Band Teaching at the University of Minnesota and completed the Canadian Wind Conductor’s Development Program in Winnipeg. Principal conducting teachers have included Dr. Dale Lonis and Earl Stafford. Jacquie is active as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator and was the conductor of the University of Manitoba Wind Ensemble in the fall of 2007. Guest conducting engagements have included the 2014 Rising Stars Manitoba Senior Honour Band, 2012 Manitoba Intermediate Honour Band, the International Music Camp in 2009, the 2005 Manitoba Junior Honour Band, several regional and divisional honour bands, as well as several performances in the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra New Music Festival. Jacquie served on the board of directors of the Manitoba Band Association from 1999 - 2005. Residing in Winnipeg with her husband and two children, she currently teaches instrumental music at Vincent Massey Collegiate and is in her 7th season as Artistic Director of the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble.
