Mark Emerson Hopkins

Mark Emerson Hopkins Dr. Hopkins earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from the New England Conservatory while serving as Assistant to Frank L. Battisti, and was awarded the Gunther Schuller Medal at graduation. He taught high school music for twelve years, including seven years service as Chair of the Music Department at Upper Canada College. Dr. Hopkins is Founding Music Director (Emeritus) of the Toronto Wind Orchestra, an ensemble comprised of professional free-lance musicians.

For three years Dr. Hopkins led the Hanover College Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble in Indiana and conducted the Madison-Ohio Valley Chorus. He returned to Canada in 2002, and has led the Symphonic Band, taught conducting and music education courses at the University of Calgary. He is Artistic Director of the Land's End Chamber Ensemble, and co-director of the Alberta Winds (a professional free-lance wind band) and the National Concert Band of Canada.
