Through the generous support of the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest as well as key partners within the local community, our goal is to keep participation registration costs at a minimum. Our registration fee of $225 (for your first ensemble) is one of the lowest registration fees in Canada. For a group of 50 performers, the cost per performer to participate in our festival is $4.50. We also offer reduced registration fees to schools/community groups that have multiple ensembles. Accessibility is key to the success of our festival. We generally have 100 groups per year participate. Here is what we offer:
We also provide enrichment opportunities for both students and ensemble directors:
This auditioned group offers festival jazz musicians the opportunity to play music at a heightened musical performance level. Directed by one of our clinicians, the group rehearses twice over three days and is featured as a headline ensemble at an evening concert focused on jazz.
The Rotary Music Festival endeavours to provide support, not only to young musicians but also, for ensemble directors through video analysis by one of our festival clinicians. At each clinic session, we capture a video segment of the ensemble director “in action”, conducting her/his ensemble. The clinician offers constructive analysis on an accompanying audio track during the recording process. The file is then privately shared with each director to assist in their professional development and their personal enrichment. This program occurs once during a three festival cycle period.
